Must have book for broadcast and production professionals

Comprehensive and easy to grasp book on what it takes to design and implement an IP driven broadcast facility. What makes it special is the emphasis on new workflow processes for both broadcast and media production – you can really get a feel on how things operate every day in the facility. Every puzzle piece is listed and shown how they all fit together. Great. Also what is cool is the media management section because it clearly shows how metadata forms the glue among all the pieces. This book is done by an expert in the field – a top engineer that built his own facility and advised many others on how to do theirs. The case studies bring a lot of this experience to life. Kind of a must-have book today as all facilities move to an IP architecture. Highly recommend.

Not as informative as I hoped it would be.

The book does a reasonable job of describing the technologies but I was troubled by some of the inaccuracies and errors I noticed. I am not sure if the material was proofed for typographical and grammatical errors but it should be and perhaps having a few subject matter experts peer review it and make corrections.

A Must Read For Anyone New to the Hobby of R/C Flying!

Although I am a retired airline pilot with a degree in aeronautical engineering and over 15,200 hours of jet piloting time, as a recent convert to the world of R/C model flying, I had endless questions. This book answered them in a concise, clear way! I have spent an enormous time calling support lines of R/C model dealers, searching about R/C forums, posting questions there, and watching hours of YouTube videos in my quest for knowledge. I could have saved myself a lot of time had I known of the existence of this great book.

I must also reveal that the book arrived yesterday afternoon and I am only half way through reading it. I have gleaned enough knowledge in that half book to justify my 5 star review. Bottom line: The book is a must read for anyone new to the hobby of flying R/C aircraft! Now I've got to run and go finish the rest of this great book!

Worthwhile, helpful, and enjoyable read

I am an experienced modeler and electric airplane pilot looking for material to help others learn about electric aircraft and flying. I read this book from cover-to-cover and found it to be thoughtful, well organized, and authoritative.

Jim engages the reader with some common initial questions that are clearly answered. The book helps with getting started with electric flight, safe modeling, field operations, how models work, and tools needed, as well as examining electric power systems.

The book is easy to read and understand, concise, and is up-to-date, and offers current useful electric information. I recommend it as an excellent guide to those starting out and needing a book to help "pull it all together".

Good Introductory Text

My daughter, a Biology major, was assigned this text for a required introductory Humanities course. She was dreading taking the course which she was taking on line. Happily she found this text to be clearly written and lively enough to hold her interest. After completing the first few assignments she related to me, a BA in European History, what she had been reading. I began reading this book and was quite impressed with both the depth of the material and the clarity with which it was being presented. There is a huge time period being covered here (prehistory to the modern day) and, instead of focusing solely on the European experience, also includes, (although not in any great depth) African, Asian and Native American experiences as well. In addition to the well written text there are also numerous illustrations including the expected reproductions of art works but also maps, blueprints and photographs that further enhance the text.

I also felt that the format was well thought out particularly for a student working independently, as in the case of a on line course. At the end of each chapter there is a Timeline that lays out the various high points of the period in question graphically illustrating how these events related to one another. The beginning of each chapter has a listing of the key topics that will be covered. These features, couple with an extensive glossary and index greatly aided in preparing for and taking on line exams.

Overall I felt that this was an excellent text. My daughter, who was initially resistant to the material, found topics that interested her and helped her to 'expand her horizons'. I have been interested in and have studied many of the topics covered over a number of years but also learned much from this text.

The most comprehensive text available on the subject

Amazing is the only way to describe the wide range of vegetables covered in this book. It is an excellent reference and well worth the price. I have not seen any other book that covers the botany, physiology and production of so many vegetables so well. Dr. Rubatzky has just recently retired from UC Davis to spend more time with his family. We will all miss his presence on campus; hopefully, he will continue to find the time to write.
