best product design book i've ever read

i've noticed that the older books get (date of publishing), the more information they seem to have. this book is a prime example.
A lot of books about design theory and process just dabble around, trying to fill 300 pages with stuff you could read in a magazine article.
The author knows what he is talking about and thoroughly explains everything, with diagrams, illustrations, charts etc.
i.e. REAL, USEFUL, INFORMATION, not another sermon from someone trying to unlock the 'secrets of innovation' by sharing 'new ways of thinking'.
This book proposes, explains and proves that a carefully planned and executed process makes for best selling products.

Classic

The paradox of successful design is to have a system for being novel. This offers a classic view of how to channel creativity and organize the chaos of invention. Much of this is common sense, but it is useful to have the wisdom in one place. I got this book because my design methods class professor kept quoting it, and the lessons taught are valuable, practical, and still applicable many years after the book was written.
